Ballaghaderreen is a great place for traditional music and it hosts the Annual Dr Douglas Hyde Summer School of Traditional Irish Music & Dance every year in July.  This is so famous a festival that it attracts musicians, dancers and visitors from many parts of Europe and as far away as China.  There is music nightly in the pubs and great 'sessiuns' and a gathering of musicians to entertain the visitors.
